RADM(s) Darin Via Nominated to Be Next Surgeon General

Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III announced today that the president has made the following nomination:

Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) Darin K. Via for assignment as surgeon general of the Navy, Falls Church, Virginia.  Via is currently serving as deputy chief, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery; deputy surgeon general of the Navy; and director, Medical Resources, Plans and Policy Division, N0931, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Falls Church, Virginia.

Interstate Medical Licensure Compact

The Interstate Medical Licensure Compact is an agreement among participating U.S. states to work together to significantly streamline the licensing process for physicians who want to practice in multiple states. It offers a voluntary, expedited pathway to licensure for physicians who qualify.  This may apply to MC officers but might be far more applicable to physician spouses of our active duty service members:

Channeling the Warrior Within – Leadership Pocket Talks

The Channeling the Warrior Within resource promotes resiliency and toughness among the female service member population and prompts users to engage in self-reflection activities to manage emotions, effectively lead, and overcome challenges. The resource includes podcasts, inspirational lectures, and other media resources on building mental strength, dealing with adversity, and developing grit. Further, exercises and strategies are included to support service members’ ability to apply the Warrior Mindset. The Navy Medicine Female Force Readiness Clinical Community put this resource together.
