Developed directly from fleet feedback, the two-page newsletter serves as a direct line of communication from the Force Master Chief to provide actionable career management tools and highlight operational excellence within the Hospital Corps rating.
Sharpening the Caduceus: How NEMWDC is forging the next generation of expeditionary Hospital Corpsmen
BLUF – The Naval Expeditionary Medicine Warfighter Development Center (NEMWDC) is transforming the training of Hospital Corpsmen through high-fidelity, expeditionary scenarios that prepare Expeditionary Resuscitative Surgical System (ERSS) and En Route Care System (ERCS) teams to deliver autonomous trauma care in austere, distributed maritime operations, emphasizing adaptability, damage control surgery, prolonged casualty care, and multifunctional operational skills. For Navy Medicine, the training represents a fundamental shift from hospital-based practice to expeditionary warfighting medicine, ensuring corpsmen and medical teams can provide seamless, lifesaving care from the point of injury through evacuation in future large-scale combat operations.
Three USU EMDP2 graduates selected as 2026 Pat Tillman Scholars
BLUF – Three graduates of the Uniformed Services University’s Enlisted to Medical Degree Preparatory Program (EMDP2)—Air Force 2nd Lt. Price Parker, Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Andrew Wenthe, and Air Force 2nd Lt. Bryce Daniel—were selected as 2026 Pat Tillman Scholars, recognizing their exceptional leadership, military service, and commitment to becoming military physicians after serving as enlisted personnel. For Navy Medicine, the recognition highlights the value of programs like EMDP2 in developing experienced enlisted service members into future physician leaders, strengthening the pipeline of operationally seasoned clinicians who bring firsthand military experience to patient care and medical leadership.
