War Department Increases Two Hazard Pays for First Time in Nearly Quarter Century

Posted on Updated on

BLUF – The War Department increased Hostile Fire Pay to $450 per month and Imminent Danger Pay to $275 per month effective October 1, the first increase since 2002, creating a larger compensation distinction between troops actually exposed to hostile fire and those serving in designated danger areas. For Navy Medicine, the change directly benefits medical personnel deployed to combat and other high-risk environments, including those supporting operations where escalating threats can trigger an immediate transition from imminent-danger to the higher hostile-fire rate.
