BLUF – A Congressional Budget Office report estimates that the U.S. has used roughly one-half to two-thirds of some missile-defense interceptor inventories during operations involving Iran, warning that replacing costly systems such as Patriot and THAAD interceptors could take at least five years and leave U.S. forces more vulnerable in a potential conflict with China. For Navy Medicine, the report illustrates the broader challenge of sustaining high-intensity warfare over time, where contested logistics and depleted inventories could similarly strain medical supplies, blood products, evacuation assets and other critical expeditionary medical capabilities.
