Top Navy officer says troops should expect ‘longer deployments’ despite 7-month goal
BLUF – Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Daryl Caudle told sailors and families to expect longer deployments in the near term because the Navy lacks enough ships and personnel to meet global demands, even as he aims eventually to keep deployments near seven months and reduce the uncertainty caused by repeated extensions. For Navy Medicine, longer and less predictable deployments increase the importance of sustaining mental health, sleep, nutrition, preventive care and medical readiness while supporting sailors and families through prolonged periods of operational stress.
