Opioid Training for DEA Renewal
As a reminder, the ‘Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023’ Medication Access and Training Expansion Act (MATE), requires new or renewing Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registrant to have completed a total of at least 8 hours of training on opioid or other substance use disorder PRIOR to DEA registration or renewal. There a many options to obtain this training, but I wanted to provide a few convenient options for those who will be renewing within the next few months:
**There are training options in Relias. The attached go by assists with searching for Relias courses that meet the requirement.
**If providers have an account with StatPearls https://www.statpearls.com/ for Maintenance of Certification (MOC) points, this site has an abundance of Opioid training that qualifies for both MOC AND the DEA Opioid training ( a two for one). Please note that StatPearls is a paid subscription, it is not free. Other MOC Opioid CME options also qualify and it is convenient to get both MOC and DEA credit.
**Lastly, there is a virtual training option and the instructions for registering are listed below. Contact Dr. Chris Spevak christopher.j.spevak.civ@health.mi l at WRNMMC with any questions regarding this option.
