Pausing the Blog
I apologize, but I have to hit the pause button on the blog while I try to comply with a BUMED instruction I was previously unaware of:
BUMEDINST 5721.3d – Approval Process for Public Release of Information (highlighted sections added by me as I was reading the document and highlighting the parts that affect the blog)
I wish I had another choice, but I don’t.

Typical military. Suppress excellence. Sorry 😦

Hopefully they are just pausing what you refer to as “excellence.” Thanks, though.

Joel, If you have not already done so I would humbly suggest reaching out to BUMED legal and PAO to get their buy-in, advice and blessing. All the best my friend, Kris

Sir, BUMED PAO via my command’s PAO is the one that sent me the policy and spelled out what I would need to do to comply. Thanks.

Damn lawyers.
We all appreciate all your hard work. I cannot tell you how helpful this blog has been for me personally and so many other officers!

Kinda feels like they ignored the blog until you published about POM20 and now they are trying to silence you.

To be fair, when they contacted me they said they didn’t want me to have to stop the blog. I think I just got caught up in the Military.com article, which was clearly leaked by someone at Walter Reed. And the new policy that I wasn’t aware of that is much more restrictive than the previous version. The POM20 stuff was simply BUMED talking points that they sent out to Specialty Leaders that I would have sent out to my whole community anyway. In the end, I have to comply with policy just like all the rest of us, so I will.
