    So what happens if you’re planning on staying 20+ but get forced out at say, 17-18 years, and did not opt into the BRS?

      I you leave with whatever you have in your TSP and that is it. That said, it would probably depend on the reason you were forced out. You’re a criminal? That’s all you’d get. You were disabled? You’d have disability. You were passed over for your next promotion and have to leave? For officers you reach safe haven at 18 years, so you’d stay to 20 and leave with a pension.
