Coming Soon! Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts for Service Members
As part of its Taking Care of Our People initiative, the Department of Defense is providing Service members with access to Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (DCFSAs).
DCFSAs enable Service members with eligible dependents to set aside as little as $100 and up to $5,000 in pretax income per household per year for eligible dependent care expenses, including day care, preschool, elder care, summer camp, and nanny or au pair services.
DCFSAs support military families with dependent care costs to enable the Service member (and their spouse if married) to work, look for work, or attend school full-time.
Eligible Service members are:
– Active (Regular) component members, or
– Active Guard Reserve members on Title 10 orders.
Eligible dependents are tax dependents who are:
– under the age of 13, or
– physically or mentally incapable of self-care at any age.
