New Clinical Guideline Helps Keep Women ‘Optimized for the Fight’

Posted on Updated on

BLUF – The War Department and Department of Veterans Affairs released a joint clinical practice guideline with 43 evidence-based recommendations for diagnosing and treating perimenopause and menopause, including hormonal and nonhormonal therapies and management of sleep, mood, sexual health, bone health, weight and cardiovascular risks. For Navy Medicine, the guideline gives clinicians—including those at remote facilities without OB/GYN specialists—standardized tools to identify and treat symptoms earlier, supporting readiness, retention and continuity of care as female service members transition between military and VA healthcare.
