Troops will get a day off to vote or register for November elections
BLUF – Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth directed a department-wide one-day stand-down by Oct. 15 to give service members time to register to vote, request or submit ballots, and consult voting assistance officers about state-specific requirements, with commanders also directed to provide flexibility for troops helping spouses and dependents. For Navy Medicine, commands will need to balance participation in the stand-down with uninterrupted patient care and operational requirements while ensuring medical personnel—particularly those deployed or stationed away from their voting residence—have an opportunity to complete the voting process.
