Historic Multinational Medical Team Integrates Aboard the USS Essex
BLUF – A first-of-its-kind multinational medical team composed of U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, and Canadian military healthcare professionals successfully integrated aboard USS Essex during RIMPAC 2026, overcoming longstanding credentialing and licensing barriers to operate a fully integrated shipboard trauma center capable of managing high-volume combat casualty scenarios. For Navy Medicine, the achievement demonstrates a major advance in coalition medical interoperability, validating the ability to deliver seamless trauma care across allied and joint forces while strengthening readiness for future maritime combat and humanitarian response operations.
