Navy instructs commands to remove portraits, biographies from websites

Posted on Updated on

BLUF – The Navy has directed commands led by vice admirals and below to remove leadership portraits and biographies from public-facing websites, citing concerns that adversaries are increasingly using publicly available information to identify, profile, and target service members and their families. The change has implications for Navy Medicine by reducing the public visibility of senior leaders while reinforcing operational security and personal protection for healthcare leaders, although official biographies of flag officers will remain available on Navy headquarters websites and internal Navy systems.
