Hegseth, Caine Testify in Support of Supplemental Budget Request
BLUF – Secretary Pete Hegseth and Gen. Dan Caine told the Senate Appropriations Committee that the administration’s supplemental defense budget request is needed to replenish munitions, strengthen the defense industrial base, improve service member quality of life, and accelerate modernization efforts, arguing that existing funding is insufficient to sustain current operational demands and long-term readiness priorities. For Navy Medicine, the request could provide resources that support military healthcare readiness—including medical modernization, infrastructure, training, and sustainment of the medical force—while reinforcing the department’s emphasis on maintaining a medically ready force capable of supporting large-scale combat operations.
