Panel to study Pentagon’s COVID vaccine mandate, troops dismissal

Posted on Updated on

BLUF – The Pentagon has commissioned an independent review, alongside an internal panel, to examine the development, implementation, and effects of the Department of Defense’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate from 2020–2023, including the discharge of more than 8,400 service members who refused vaccination and the policy’s impact on military readiness. For Navy Medicine, the review could shape future policies governing mandatory immunizations, force health protection, medical exemptions, and the role of military healthcare leaders in balancing individual medical considerations with the operational readiness requirements of the force.
