SECNAV Wants Your Ideas for COVID-19 Response
Here is a quote from the SENAV’s 17th weekly vector:
Sometimes even the most unlikely person steps up with an idea, with inspiration, with
confidence, and leads when they are needed most. In this time of national crisis, that person may be YOU…I’ve asked the Chief of Naval Operations and the Commandant of the Marine Corps to think creatively about how the entire Department of the Navy can further assist our civilian sisters and brothers, directly and indirectly. They (and we) need to hear your ideas, too. We have set up an email address to capture all of them and every one of them will matter, because good ideas have no rank:

Civilians should have a group in the interest of Federal Civilians to discuss interests, concerns and needs of Civilians. This meeting should be held at least once a month off-site for at least one hour with minutes of the agenda that can be shared with the Command. OPM guidance should be understood for implementation when needed. Civilians should be allowed training at least once a year for career development enhancement. Currently there are online courses that can be taken at work which is not the best due to interruptions you are subject to have. Locally there are colleges as well as career track seminars, Colleges with courses and Career Track with one day seminars are available locally. Employees should have official training for their jobs that if you have a human resource issue you are not talking to a supply person or a security Officer who does not understand what guidance the answer should have come from. Graduate School of Washington DC have human resource training; payroll training, retirement classes or any other job in government with a position description. Civilians should understand accretion of duties as well as how to modify their position descriptions when changes to job duties occur.

You will have to submit these ideas to the e-mail mentioned in the blog post if you want them to be considered. Posting them here is fine but isn’t going to reach the audience you are looking for.
