Navy families evacuated from Bahrain are still trying to retrieve their belongings
BLUF – More than six months after roughly 1,300 dependents were evacuated from Naval Support Activity Bahrain during Iranian attacks, some Navy families remain unable to return for household goods, vehicles and pets because of continuing security concerns, with sailors describing a confusing process and financial and emotional hardships. For Navy Medicine, the prolonged displacement highlights how conflict affects military families well beyond the battlefield, creating stress, financial strain and family disruption that can affect sailors’ mental health, resilience and readiness and require sustained command and healthcare support.
