SUBJ/ MESSAGE TO THE FLEET AND FORCE (CORRECTED COPY)//

1. The President supports the critical role the Department of the Navy (DON)
plays in defending our Nation.

2. The United States Navy and the Marine Corps are the world's premier
maritime forces, built on a foundation of warrior ethos. Since World War II,
the world has benefitted from the peace secured through U.S. strength.

3. The global security environment is under unprecedented strain from
aggressive nations and non-state terrorist organizations that seek economic,
political, and military advantages.

4. We must enhance our readiness to fight today and modernize for the future
fight, all while contending with determined competitors.

5. To be prepared to defeat our adversaries at any time, we must have a
relentless focus on operational excellence to guarantee our readiness-the
readiness of the greatest and strongest Maritime fighting force the world has
ever seen. I am committed to ensuring the readiness, health, and welfare of
our Sailors and Marines, both active and reserve; DON civilians; and our
families in order to accomplish this mission.

6. Over the next few weeks, we will welcome new leadership as they are
confirmed by the Senate. My priority is to ensure a seamless transition to
new leadership while simultaneously preparing us to quickly execute the
President's priorities.

7. Thank you all for your profound contributions to the Navy and Marine
Corps Team. I am honored to serve as your Acting Secretary, and I am
committed to supporting you for as long as I serve in the role.

8. Released by Terence G. Emmert, Acting Secretary of the Navy.//
