Medical Dept. Responsibilities for the Physical Readiness Program

Posted on Updated on

Background: Important updates to the Navy’s physical fitness program have been published, to include updated Authorized Medical Department Representative (AMDR) Training, BUMEDINST 6110.15B (below), and changes to pregnancy notification which may affect pregnant Service members during the current PRT cycle.

  1. 2023 AMDR Training has been released on the MyNavy HR Physical Readiness Page. www.mynavyhr.navy.mil/Support-Services/Culture-Resilience/Physical-Readiness//
  2. BUMEDINST 6110.15B-MEDICAL DEPARTMENT RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE PHYSICAL READINESS PROGRAM is a complete revision and should be read in entirety by all medical department personnel, AMDRs, MEB convening authority, and command leadership.
  3. ALNAV 017/23 states that Service members can delay notification of pregnancy to their command until 20 weeks gestation to provide the member with time and flexibility to make private health care. To comply with this guidance, the MyNavy Portal PARFQ landing page provides temporary guidance on how Sailors should answer if they choose not to disclose their pregnancy status prior to 20 weeks. CFLs should continue to respect the medical privacy for all Sailors with medical waivers.
