I have been in long enough now to see this come up every so often. It makes headlines, but rarely accomplished more. CDR Guy Snodgrass’ “Keep a Weather Eye on the Horizon” came out 4 years ago to big buzz … and little actual action, from what I can tell. I think tours with industry is the only thing I have seen become more of a thing.
Why do people leave the military?
Until they examine that and attempt to “Fix” or at least mitigate – A 40 year career is a pipe dream.
For the Medical Corps, its clear, the deployment tempo, the horrific EMR and the lack of respect are the top reasons, along with frequent moves and pay not keeping up. Compound this by the fact that we underfund the medical corps to do their mission, blame them for the rising costs yet most of the $$ Tricare budget goes out to the CIV Network… Why would I stay any longer? Give me the tools. Give me the resources. Big Navy —
– Double Down and invest in your medical corps. We can do this correctly with the right resources. Who knows we might actually stick around.
