Pentagon orders bases to plan for 90 days without the grid as Britain urges families to stockpile food and water
BLUF – The Pentagon is developing its FORTRESS initiative to enable major U.S. military installations to sustain essential operations for at least 90 days without external electricity, water, fuel, or communications support during a major conflict, while Britain is separately encouraging households to stockpile emergency supplies. The initiative emphasizes independent energy generation, resilient supply chains, and strategic reserves of critical materials, including medical supplies, highlighting the need for Navy Medicine to strengthen medical logistics, infrastructure resilience, and continuity of healthcare operations during prolonged disruptions.
