Navy Civilianizes Six Former Flag Billets, Reduces Six to Captains – Naval Medical Forces Support Command Reduced from O7 to O6

Posted on Updated on

BLUF – The Navy identified 14 flag officer billets for restructuring as part of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s initiative to reduce senior military leadership positions, converting six to civilian positions, downgrading six to O-6 commands and merging three positions, with one additional flag billet created elsewhere. For Navy Medicine, the changes specifically include downgrading the Commander of Naval Medical Forces Support Command from a flag officer to a Navy captain, potentially affecting senior medical leadership opportunities and oversight of medical training and readiness, although the Navy has not provided details about implementation or organizational impacts.

Wow. This is quite disturbing for executive leadership especially once a civilian is in a position it’s an act of congress before they are moved. Gives the 07s more reasons to exit right.
