The focus is on the Expeditionary Medical units (ERSS, ERCS, EMU, etc.), and they are all at NMRTCs/MTFs. They are not operational like jobs with the Fleet or USMC.

How can the surgeon general hope to keep/recruit high demand fields that are constantly required to be in operational jobs?

They sure feel operational as I get back to back to back to back one/two year deployable orders and get sent somewhere every year or two.
